I have decided that when Guides starts again after the Easter Holidays, I am going to do an "Everything English" eveing. It'll be on the 22nd of April so just in time to celebrate St Georges day on the 23rd 
My ideas so far include and anagram quiz of Elnlish towns and landmarks (although I am struggling for landmark ideas outside of London... I am such a Southerner 
)
And food from round the country... I have Scones, Conrish Pasties and Pork Pies so far!
Anyone got any other suggestions??

Pro Had already thought of those 3!! They were the only 3 northern ones I could think of 
The Lake District generally as a landmark? I'm running out of ideas too !

I was thinking back to the Industrial Revolution - topic I'm doing with some of the kids - look at all the northern towns and cities with historical industrial backgrounds!

And even then, people hardly ever travelled down south....
Of coure we didn't/don't travel down south, the towns down there are shit and the people are arrogant

Pro Actually the towns are pretty good... how would you know if you'd never travelled?? London is a wonderful city. I'd never live here but I enjoy working here and there's so much to see.
And if you're going to throw stereotypes at me... Northern people are crass and illiterate
I actually quite liked London, it was just too big for my liking.

Just for the irony, what you want is one of the American sites- they list all that. Apparently, being English is 'cool' over here
So all things English:
Food: You already mentioned scones, cornish pasties and pork pies... but what about:
shepherd's pie, spotted dick, fish and chips 
TEA is an English tradition- with your hot tea, cucumber sarnies (never was sure why) and little cakes
Or how about going into Waitrose or Tescos and getting some of the 'artisan' foods- like cumberland sausage and real english cheeses?
as for activities- I like to recommend a 'Kings and Queens of England' quiz (who had 6 wives, who reigned 9 days, who had his head chopped off).
Read aloud the legend of St. George or let the girls make some puppets to tell the story. actually I might do that with the kids... Listen to a Robin Hood story...
Enough ideas?

Pro I did think of tea too I have one vegetarian guide so the sandwiches are a good idea!

Hope Mum, Dad and G have a good trip! Bet G didn't sleep at all last night Are the kids still very excited? (Don't let mum and dad forget we want presents lol)
yes and no (excited)... Time is a difficult concept to a 5 yo who wants Easter and a 9yo who is nervous too
There is a really nice picture book St George you can all read and perform.
I still say pick up some Cumberland sausage tho- but a 'tea party' is more fun I expect!
I'll dig up my homeschooling St George resources later!
