Its funny. Sitting reading a few blogs over the past few days has got me thinking about a few things!! Mainly parts of my life when I was very happy! Its helped me a lot really! Instead of sitting and dwelling on stuff thats not right, I actually think about other things and for the first time in a long time I have been able to forget!!
The main thing I have been thinking about is my love of music and singing! There was a period where I used to go to Karaoke at Chicagos in Reading every Tuesday
I'd sing lots of different things ranging from The Corrs, The Bangles to Emma Bunton!!
I also think about when I was 17 and I was actually ina band for the dsummer!! It was great fun! We'd meet and practice in my mate P's bedroom. His parents were out a lot so that was ok
Its funny though. At that time in my life I was still a very very shy person. I was in the lower sixth at schools and we had a project to put on a concert raising money for Amnesty (which was an annual thing at our school) and Base, a homeless charity. P was in the upper sixth at the time and dating a friend of mine. Somehow we got chatting (probably about Bon Jovi
) and decided to get together and perform at the concert. We almost didn't manage it, as he was very busy and had almost decided not to do it until he had a dream!! Anyway, we performed 2 songs for the concert (Livin on a prayer, and a song by Jann Arden called I'd die for you) but still got together to sing (well I sang and he played the guitar
) about once a week!! He knew a basist and another mate of mine played the drums so we eventually got a band together!! As P was off ti uni at the end of the summer we all went our separate ways and never got to record the stuff we sang as we had planned
I still talk to P every so often, and we joke about the singing a bit! I haven't seen him for 10 years now I think!! OMG I can't believe it was so long ago!! i didn't realise that unitl now
I still remember though how amazing it was to be up on stage and perform, seeing all my friends looking up at me!! There was about 200 people in the audience, and so it was a big thing for me, especially as I was physically unable to do activities in drama class!!! I wasn't as nervous as I thought I was going to be, and after an incident where the mic I was using wasn't actually turned on things got going! It was such a buzz! I could have sang all night
